14. Synonyms, antonyms, homophones, and homographs
This material invites children to explore the different relationships that can exist between words while gradually expanding their vocabulary and deepening their understanding of language.
Through matching, classification and observation activities, children discover four essential language concepts: Synonyms: words with similar meanings. Antonyms: words with opposite meanings. Homophones: words that sound the same but differ in meaning and spelling. Homographs: words that share the same spelling but have different meanings depending on the context. The material includes matching cards and control charts for each presentation, allowing children to work independently while reinforcing each concept through exploration and discovery. Montessori Purpose: To understand the fundamental relationships between words while expanding vocabulary and developing greater precision in both spoken and written language. Material Preparation: Cut out the matching cards and control charts, laminate them and organize each presentation separately before introducing the material.
