06. Tree Nomenclature
This material invites children to discover the structure of a tree through direct observation in nature.
By identifying each part, children understand that a tree is a living organism whose structures work together to support growth, protection and survival. The presentation is especially meaningful when carried out outdoors beside a real tree. As a follow-up activity, children may return to the classroom to complete a writing or drawing exercise based on their observations. Includes: Five main parts of a tree. Picture cards. Labels. Definitions. Control Book. A real tree is recommended during the presentation. Montessori Purpose: To identify and name the main parts of a tree while understanding the function of each structure within the plant kingdom. Material Preparation: Cut out the cards, glue the front and back together, laminate them and bind them into a Control Book.
